Obituary of Ricky Hardy

Johnny Richard "Ricky" Hardy passed away in the late evening hours surrounded by his family Tuesday, April 30, 2024.  He was 60 years old.  A funeral service will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 at 4 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory.  A visitation will take place one hour prior between the hours of 3 PM and 4 PM.  He will be laid to rest at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.  

Ricky was born September 7, 1963 in Covington, Georgia to the late Paul Hardy and Emily Pitts Hardy.  Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his siblings: Cathy Boyt and Allen Hardy.  He retired from the Macon Telegraph after 25 years of service as the supervisor of the mail room.  He then began his second career as a Detention Officer for the Peach County Sheriff's Office, serving 12 years.  Ricky was a true servant, whether it was to his community or his family.  He was always ready to lend a hand, provide a seat at his table or a hug when you needed it.  He enjoyed pranking others to get a laugh out of them, camping every summer with his family, fishing, hunting,  and was known as a self-proclaimed grill master. Ricky was husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda Chase Hardy; children: Joshua Hardy, Leila (Dustin) Rogers, Devin Daye, and Krystin Hardy; grandchild: Sylar Sims; brother: Mike (Shirley) Hardy; and a host of nieces and nephews.
